Petrify

‘Petrify’ explores the lore surrounding Ursula Southeil, known commonly as Mother Shipton. Southeil was born in a cave on the outskirts of Knaersborough where she was said to live out the rest of her days, with her life steeped in speculation and supernatural attributions. Renowned for her prophecies, many of which came to fruition long after her death, Mother Shipton has historically occupied a precarious position between veneration and vilification.

The publication ‘Petrify’ is the first iteration of a curatorial research project by Scott Elliott, following the practice of Dillan Marsh and Eleanor Clare.
